Kurt Stevenson is seeking election to seat #5 of the Idabel Public Schools Board of Education. He shared his reasons for his candidacy in an interview with The McCurtain County View's SuZan Cole (see video below).
Included in his reasons for seeking the seat, Stevenson stated he was disappointed in the apparent lack of open-ness in current board business. He said he wants to make the board more accountable to the people of the district.
He also addressed the issue of student transfers to other area schools because of dissatisfaction with people, policy, or other issues. He suggested that he wants to solve this problem and keep those students here.
Stevenson made mention of the arts, athletics, academics, and accountability in his interview with SuZan Cole. See the video at McCurtainCountyView.com for a first-hand view of what he has to say, and judge for yourself.
