Imogene Webb, 95, passed away peacefully February 25, 2010 at the Broken Bow Nursing Home. She was born June 6, 1914 in Redland, OK to Lloyd and Bessie (Martin) Finley. As a small child, she was raised in the Sweethome Community west of Broken Bow. At Hochatown, OK, she met Doc Webb, married then moved to Broken Bow and raised two daughters, Barbara and Nelda. Later, she and Doc bought a 50 acre farm back in the Sweethome community. They raised cattle and had a big garden every year. After Doc passed away in a 1974 logging accident, Imogene moved back to Broken Bow and continued to work at the Bennett Elementary School in the lunch room serving meals daily to all the school children. A big smile was served with lunch each day witnessed by all five of her grandchildren who were fortunate to see their Grandmama at lunch through those elementary school years. She retired at age 65 but continued to raise a garden, in town, until she wasn’t physically able. She was an excellent cook and served many wonderful meals. We always looked forward each week to her Sunday meal after church. Nobody could fix a chicken fried deer meat meal like Grandmama! Imogene became a member of Lukfata Baptist Church in 1975 and was baptized by Brother Hawkins. She has personally known the Lord for over 35 years and now she has gone to meet him face to face. She has patiently waited, but quietly asking for Gabriel to blow his horn as she has been ready to “go home.” She always had a sweet smile and loved her family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doc Webb; her sister, Katy Schaffer; and her two brothers, Matt and J.D. Finley. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bill Bailey and Nelda and Randy Smith; five grandchildren and spouses, Carolyn Baldwin, Tracy and Glen Bawcum, Mike and Stacy Bailey, Stephanie and John Callaham, Debbie and Todd Smith and twelve grandchildren plus many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Hochatown Cemetery with Bro. Don Batchelor officiating.
