Thelma received her Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern State College in 1939 and her Masters degree from Southeastern State College in 1958. She lived in Idabel most all her life and taught English in Idabel Public schools for 33 years, retiring in 1975. Thelma enjoyed sewing, reading and working in the yard. She was a member of the By Pass Church of Christ. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doyle Talley in 1977, also by two sisters and one brother. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jon Doyle and Jackie Tapley of Idabel, OK; Mark and Judy Tapley of Mt. Vernon, Texas; The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Norwood-Nation Chapel.
Thelma Tapley of Idabel, OK was born October 9, 1914 in Bryan County, Oklahoma,
the daughter of J.A. Shirley and Ethel Hudsondorf Shirley and went to be with her Lord and Savior April 23, 2010 in Idabel, OK at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 14 days.
three grandchildren, Shane Tapley and Patti Tapley, of Idabel, OK; Lauren Tapley of Waco, Texas; Holly Tapley of Abiline, Texas; and one great-grandchild Macy Tapley, of Idabel, OK; special friends, Larry and Judy Faulkner, Elizabeth Cunningham and many other friends.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Denison Cemetery, Idabel, OK with Tim Mashburn and Larry Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow in Denison Cemetery.
