Winton married Cori Cobb in June of 1968 in Sterling, IL. He served in the U.S. Army with a rank of Captain. He earned a B.S. in Forestry from OSU, and his M.S. from Michigan State University in Wood Tech. Winton joined Dierks Forestry in 1968 and retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2001. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Broken Bow. Winton enjoyed golf, spending time in the outdoors, Broken Bow Lake, gardening and was affiliated with O.S.U. Forestry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sherman and Johnny Ross.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Cori Ross of the home; one son and daughter-in-law Lester and Lisa Ross of Owasso, OK; one daughter and son-in-law Carissa and Eric Dames of Medford, OR; two brothers Bob Ross and wife Juanita of Kaw City, OK, Donnie Ross and wife Freda of Hobbs, NM; four sisters Ruth Shelton of Tulsa, OK, Bettsy Roe of Grove, OK, Sue Sharp and husband Jack of Pawhuska, OK and Katherine Mikeman and husband Randal of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren Laurel and Linden; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, with Rev. Oscar Wilkie will officiate. Interment will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, OK.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Brumley Funeral Home on Thursday evening.
